What we clean.

Many churches lean on volunteers to clean until the building outgrows them. Arbor takes the regular work off their hands, from the sanctuary and the fellowship hall kitchen to classrooms, the nursery and the restrooms, so volunteers can give their time to the congregation instead.

Sunday services, weekday classes, youth groups, weddings and memorials all bring people through the same rooms. Arbor sets visits around your calendar, so the sanctuary, fellowship hall, kitchen, classrooms, nursery and restrooms are ready before each gathering. Carpet in sanctuaries and halls gets extraction on a schedule that leaves time to dry.

Ready for every gathering.

A church is used in waves. Sunday fills the sanctuary, fellowship hall and nursery, weeknights bring classes, choir and youth groups, and weddings and memorials can fill a Saturday at short notice. Arbor schedules visits so each wave arrives to clean rooms, often with a Saturday clean before services and a midweek visit after the busiest weeknight.

The sanctuary gets pews and seating dusted, hymnal racks tidied, the entry and aisles cleaned and restrooms restocked. The fellowship hall kitchen gets counters, sinks and floors done after coffee hour and potlucks.

Care for children’s rooms.

Nurseries and Sunday school rooms are used by the youngest members of the congregation, so they get close attention: tables, chairs, shelves and door handles wiped, floors cleaned and carpet vacuumed thoroughly. Toys and supplies stay where your volunteers keep them.

Carpet in sanctuaries and halls benefits from hot-water extraction a few times a year, scheduled early in the week so it is dry well before the next service.

Churches across our area.

Congregations in Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Windsor, Elk Grove, Citrus Heights, Stockton and Manteca share the same pattern of busy weekends and lighter weekdays, and plans follow each church’s own calendar. Extra visits can be added for holidays, weddings and large events.

Recurring janitorial service can pair with floor care for tiled halls and kitchens, all on one written plan.

When a church shares its building with a school or a community group during the week, the plan covers both, with visits timed so each group finds the rooms ready.

Church cleaning costs and how they compare with offices

In 2026 regional figures, churches generally price at or a little below our office band of $0.15 to $0.24 per square foot monthly. Sanctuaries and fellowship halls are large open rooms that clean quickly, and many churches need fewer visits a week than an office does, which brings the monthly total down further. Nurseries, kitchens and restrooms after a full Sunday take more care, and they keep the rate from falling too far.

Take a 14,000-square-foot church in Manteca with a sanctuary, fellowship hall, kitchen, six classrooms and a nursery. Priced just under office rates, at $0.14 a foot for five nights, it would run $1,960 a month. Two visits a week, on Saturday before services and once midweek, puts a church that size well below that figure. Weddings, memorials and youth events add resets, and carpet extraction in the sanctuary is its own line. We plan the visits around your calendar and send a written plan and quote, and our janitorial pricing guide shows how other buildings compare.

A few useful answers

Common questions

Can cleaning be scheduled around weekend services?

Yes. Many churches choose a Saturday visit before services and a midweek visit after weekday events.

How are nurseries and Sunday school rooms cleaned?

Surfaces at a child’s height come first: tables, chairs, shelves and door handles. Floors and carpet follow, and the rooms are left set up the way your teachers had them.

Can the fellowship hall be reset after a wedding or memorial?

Yes. An extra visit cleans the hall, kitchen and restrooms after a large event.

How do holiday services change the cleaning schedule?

Send the dates and the plan adds a visit before and after, so the building is ready for the larger crowds.

Can the crew work while the church office is open?

Yes. Weekday visits can work around office staff, and the sanctuary and halls are cleaned while they sit empty.

Does Arbor clean church kitchens after potlucks?

Yes. Counters, sinks, appliance fronts and the floor are cleaned after kitchen events, as set out in your plan.
